【房地產稅的減免和如何抗爭】Property Exemptions & Protests

內容：很多人都不知道我們每年繳付的房地產稅可以有很多的減免辦法。房地產稅是根據政府的估價而課稅。如果我們認為政府估價太高，要繳的稅金太多，我們如何去抗爭？去年Harvey水災，許多人的房子淹水，要花錢去修理。這些費用否在房地產稅上減免？淹水後，房地產跌價，稅金是否應該減少？我們現在邀請Harris County Attorney的專家Mr. Scott R. Hilsher, J.D. 來為我們解說這些問題。但願能夠幫助我們同鄉減少一些負擔。

Many people do not know that there are many ways to save on taxes when reporting property taxes each year. Property taxes are determined by government appraisal of property values. If you believe the government has overvalued your property and your taxes are too high, how do you object? After Harvey flooding last year, many people had their homes flooded and had to spend money on repairs. Can these costs reduce property taxes? After the floods, real estate values fell—should taxes go down? We are inviting Harris County Attorney Mr. Scott R. Hilsher, J.D. to answer these questions. Hopefully this will help some people to reduce some financial burden.
